GoodFriday: On how to be disliked, sensationalism, & attitude

Happy GoodFriday!

Here’s something I heard, thought, and did this week.

Something I Heard:

Attitude is just as infections as the flu.

Something I Thought:

When people can’t come up with something that is truly unique and creative they end up relying solely on sensationalism. It’s so much easier to grab someone’s attention with shock value than something that requires them to think. The difference between the two is clear: one lingers in your mind, the other fades the moment you scroll past it.

Something I’m Doing:

I started listening to a new book this week called, The Courage to be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga.

I found this book interesting because I believe most people carry some form of self limiting beliefs that hold us back from living the lives we truly want for ourselves. This book breaks down and reframes those belief systems in a way that empowers the reader to challenge and ultimately change them.

In many ways, this book shares a lot of similarities with the principles of Stoicism, the idea that our experiences are subjective and that we each have the power to choose how we respond to them.

It’s been a fascinating read so far and has already helped me view some of my own limiting beliefs from a new perspective.

Since the book is written as a dialogue between two characters, I’ve found the audiobook version to be a much more engaging and natural way to absorb it.

If you want to check out the book for yourself on Audible click HERE

Until next week!
