GoodFriday: On ChatGPT therapy, brain storage, & gluttony

Happy GoodFriday!

Here’s something I heard, thought, and did this week.

Something I Heard:

“Your brain is a terrible office.” -David Allen

Something I Thought:

If we over consume food we get fat, but what happens when we over consume pointless information? There seems to be no limit to the amount of information we can consume on a daily basis. It cannot be that there is no consequence to this form of gluttony. Life offers no free lunch..

Something I’m Doing:

Disclaimer: This is NOT medical advice. It’s simply a personal reflection on a tool I’ve found helpful. If you are struggling with anything please seek medical help.

Recently, I’ve been using ChatGPT as my own personal therapist. The interpretations of my issues along with it’s suggestions have been surprisingly helpful.

I’ll give it a simple prompt with something I’m dealing with and ask for perspective. Within seconds, it responds with a thoughtful breakdown of why I might be feeling this way, plus practical suggestions to help shift my mindset. It even follows up with clarifying questions and offers journaling prompts that I can explore further.

To be clear, this is not a replacement for traditional therapy, nor do I believe it should be. But as a quick-access tool in moments when I need immediate support or reflection, it’s been surprisingly useful.

Until next week!
