GoodFriday: On adversity builds character, whey protein alternative, & action
Happy GoodFriday!
Here’s something I heard, thought, and did this week.
Something I Heard: Adversity
“Adversity doesn’t build character, it reveals it.”- James Lane Allen
I really like this quote, but I don’t fully agree with the binary it suggests.
Yes, adversity can reveal someone’s character. It shows how a person responds when things get hard. But I also believe adversity plays a role in shaping that character in the first place.
Under the right circumstances, adversity is one of our greatest teachers. We build character by overcoming challenges, making mistakes, and learning to endure hardship. And the confidence we gain from getting through those hard moments? That becomes the foundation for who we are the next time life tests us.
Something I Thought: Motivation Through Action
Most people wait to feel motivated before taking action. But action is what creates momentum, and momentum is what fuels motivation.
If you're stuck, don’t wait for the perfect mindset. Start small. Move your body. Do something. The shift in how you feel will follow.
Something I’m Doing: Whey Protein Alternative
For those who are sensitive to dairy and looking for a high-quality protein source—I got you.
I’ve been on the hunt for a protein powder that isn’t plant-based. Not that there’s anything wrong with plant-based protein; I’ve just found that I have a hard time digesting those too.
Beef protein isolate is something I recently discovered, and I gotta say—it’s pretty damn good. Each serving has 21g of protein, just 0.5g of fat, uses stevia as a sweetener, and actually tastes good.
The only downside? It doesn’t mix all that well. I definitely recommend blending it.
This isn’t a sponsored post, just something I wanted to share since I’ve been on the lookout for a solid protein supplement myself.

Until next week!
