GoodFriday: On protein quality, social entertainment, & the long game
Happy GoodFriday!
Here’s something I heard, thought, and did this week.
Something I Heard: Social Media
“People don’t really communicate on social media, so much as they perform for one another.” -Johnathan Haidt
I came across this quote earlier this week while listening Same as Ever by Morgan Housel, and it stuck with me. The quote from Haidt highlights the fact that most people put on this performative show for others to view. It’s all about the things they have, the places their going, or how perfect their curated lives are.
We see these things, we like, we may comment, and we continue scrolling. It’s not communication so much as it’s social entertainment.
Something I Thought: Always Play The Long Game
The long game is the only game that matters. Too much goes on from day to day that can throw you off the path if you react to it all. But if you stay focused on your longterm objective, you can drown out those other distractions and keep moving forward with purpose. Progress might feel slow at times, but consistency compounds. And in the end, it’s not the daily noise that determines your success—it’s your ability to keep showing up for the bigger vision.
Something I’m Doing: Not All Protein Count
This video from Dr. Mike Israetel is an important reminder that not all proteins are created equal. Even if you're tracking your intake with a nutrition app, it will count all protein the same—simply adding it up for the day. But the protein in bread is not the same as the protein in eggs, chicken, or beef. It's a helpful reminder to prioritize high-quality protein sources with every meal to maximize your muscle-building potential.

Until next week!
